Product Description
Go Forward with Stevenson Sparkman replica pinback or stick presidential campaign button
Pin measures 1-3/8 inches round
In the 1970s American Oil Company put out a series of 38 campaign buttons, given away as premiums at their gas station. This is the reproduction of the Presidential Campaign of 1952.
The intelligent campaign conducted by Democrat Adlai E. Stevenson, Govenor of Illinois, was helpless against the much loved fatherly figure of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Proclaiming "I shall go to Korea" Ike carried 39 states, winning 27 million votes to Stevenson Sparkman's 21 million.
The back tells where you can send $8.95 to purchase the entire set plus a handsome wooden collector's wall piece and a booklet reporting each campaign. I doubt you could still make that purchase.
Bottom right corner tells this button's number 29 - 30
The stain on the card does not effect the campaign button
